70TPD Continuous tire pyrolysis technology and machinery
APChemi and Rey Carbon Partner to Build Continuous Tyre Pyrolysis Plants for Europe and North America
Rey Carbon's continuous tyre pyrolysis technology has pyrolysed 18,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres at its plant in India. Rey Carbon owns and licenses the technology, and APChemi engineers each new plant to European standards.
Navi Mumbai and Krishnagiri, India, 20th Oct 2026: Rey Carbon and APChemi have partnered to take Rey Carbon's continuous tyre (tire) pyrolysis technology to buyers in Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK. Rey Carbon owns and licenses the technology. APChemi handles the engineering to meet European standards, or the equivalent local codes in each country.
Rey Carbon, established in 2018 in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, runs a continuous tyre-to-oil plant that turns end-of-life tyres into tyre pyrolysis oil (TPO) and carbon black. The plant can process 70 tonnes of tyres a day, or 21,000 tonnes a year, and has pyrolysed 18,000 tonnes of tyres so far. Its first continuous line has run for about five years. The site holds ISCC PLUS certification for carbon black and pyrolysis oil, and ISCC EU certification for pyrolysis oil.
APChemi, based in Navi Mumbai, has developed over 50 industry scale pyrolysis plants for plastic, tyre and biomass waste. It is owner's engineer and technology supplier to a 150 tonnes-per-day continuous tyre pyrolysis plant in North America, and engineered a 42 tonnes-per-day continuous plastic pyrolysis plant in the UK in compliance with CE and ATEX. Its own pyrolysis plant at Khalapur, Maharashtra, is ISCC PLUS certified, and it has been supported by the Technology Development Board of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Note: The film shows the plant at 60 TPD. Its capacity has since been raised to 70 TPD through process improvements.
Who does what
The technology belongs to Rey Carbon. Under the memorandum of understanding the two companies signed in February 2026, Rey Carbon is the sole licensor of its continuous tyre pyrolysis technology.
Rey Carbon is responsible for:
the pyrolysis technology
plant engineering
equipment fabrication
managing equipment procurement and supply
site supervision of installation on the first project, and of commissioning on the first few projects
hosting buyer and investor visits at its Krishnagiri plant
APChemi is responsible for:
engineering design, and engineering for compliance with European quality norms, including CE and ATEX, or the equivalent local codes
any technology upgrades a plant needs to meet those norms, and technology development to reduce plant downtime
its pyrolysis oil distillation technology
assistance with managing procurement and construction
research on recovered carbon black (rCB) quality and sulphur reduction
site supervision, taking it over from Rey Carbon as projects repeat
Statements from both companies
Joint statement from Rey Carbon, R. Ravichandran and S. Elumalai, Managing Partners:
"We did not come to tyre recycling as a theory. We came with decades of process engineering and one conviction: an end-of-life tyre is a resource, not a waste. With APChemi, we can now offer our technology to buyers who need their plant built to European codes. What we built is real. Come to Krishnagiri, see the plant. The floor will tell you everything."
Suhas Dixit, Founder and CEO, APChemi:
"Rey Carbon has run a continuous tyre pyrolysis plant for years, not just designed one. The technology is theirs. APChemi's part is the engineering to build each new plant to CE and ATEX in Europe, and to the equivalent codes in North America. We are already doing great work. The question is, do you want us to replicate our success for you?"
How we create value together
A buyer gets a technology with 18,000 tonnes of operating history, engineered to their local codes by a company that has already engineered a CE and ATEX-compliant pyrolysis plant in the UK. The first plants will process 20 tonnes of tyres a day, with larger sizes to follow.
The demand is there. About one billion tyres reach the end of their life every year, according to a 2018 estimate by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Tyre makers are building tyre-to-tyre supply chains and want pyrolysis oil and carbon black from tyre pyrolysis, sold as recovered carbon black (rCB), that they can trace. ISCC PLUS certifies a site, not a design, so each new plant owner certifies their own plant. Krishnagiri shows the output can meet the standard.
